Howard Barker’s play Judith staged at the Theatre des Amandiers

'Judith'
The play is inspired by a story from the Bible in which Judith, the young beautiful widow from Bethulie, seduces Holofernes the tyrant, then cuts off his head while he sleeps, bringing about the fall of the Assyrien army and freedom to the town.

Howard Barker
Author, poet, painter, director, he has written some 50 plays and is often the director of his own works in the framework of his theatre company  ‘The Wrestling School’.Howard Barker has coined the phrase  ‘Theatre of Catastrophe’, to describe his work. His plays often explores violence, sexuality, the desire for power, and human motivation.
