About Us

The British Council is the UK’s international organisation for educational and cultural relations.

We connect people worldwide with learning opportunities and creative ideas from the UK and build lasting relationships between the UK and other countries.

The British Council was founded in 1934 and today we are a major international organisation employing 7,900 staff. In 2009 we celebrate our 75th anniversary.

We established a presence in Paris in 1944.

CONTACT US
Working for the British Council

We are recruiting IELTS examiners at the moment. You’ll find more information here.
We are often asked about stages and work opportunities in our Paris office. However it is only very rarely that job opportunities occur. When they do they are advertised on our site,  in the national press and specialist journals.
We are unable to respond to unsolicited applications. More information about working for the British Council
We have developed our Integrated Equality Scheme to help us promote equality and eliminate discrimination in the areas of gender, race and disability. Find out how we are applying this scheme worldwide.
