“I want to enthuse our young people particularly with the prospect of working in science. It’s not just about being a boffin in a laboratory – it’s actually about practical application and transforming lives, tackling the world’s problems and doing so in a very practical way.”

Tony Blair, London,
9 November 2006

beautiful science

Beautiful Science is a new British Council initiative – linking science, education and the arts – which ultimately seeks to inspire young people to consider a career in science and encourage young scientists to communicate with the wider public, in an open, comprehensive, inspired and interactive way.

Beautiful Science regional project is implemented in 9 countries in South East Europe region: Austria, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Israel, Romania, Serbia and Turkey and the UK.

It involves a programme of activities designed to develop partnerships between UK and regional science communicators to share best practice and encourage professional development by engaging UK creativity.

Beautiful Science started in Cheltenham UK with a workshop for the 9 South-East European countries representatives and UK partners for preparing the fist events under the national FameLab competition.

For further information on Beautiful Science project in Romania contact Gabriel Ivan, Education & Science Projects Manager, at gabriel.ivan@britishcouncil.ro or subscribe to our weekly e-newsletter - InBrief, the Science section, and you will receive the latest news.
