DJ Pogo et Ty
Top UK hip-hop artists in Morocco

Two prominent members of the UK hip hop scene, DJ Pogo and Ty took part in the fifth edition of “Le Boulevard des Jeunes Musiciens” held at the COC in Casablanca from 30 May to 1 June 2003. This event, which is organised by FOL, is a yearly festival which aims at promoting local talents and encouraging professional musicians to share their knowledge and experience with amateur musicians.

On Sunday 1 June, DJ Pogo and Ty held a very successful workshop at FOL for about 20 people including local DJs and MCs. They introduced the audience to the history of hip hop in general and in the UK in particular and treated everyone to a small taste of their talents before their scheduled performance that evening.

Later on the same day, DJ Pogo and Ty were one of the acts who performed on the closing night of the Festival and they really got the crowd rocking! Ty also performed his latest single taken from his upcoming album “UPWARDS” and called “We don’t care”. Three Moroccan MCs were invited to perform on stage with Ty and DJ Pogo.

On Tuesday 2 June, another workshop for DJs only was held in Rabat at the Pachanga Club. The workshop was organised in association with the Original Hip Hop association and ran from late morning to late afternoon.

DJ Pogo concentrated on working to improve the skills of local DJs but also encouraged the Hip Hop community as a whole to work together to raise their level of skill. DJs from all over Morocco (Rabat, Salé, Casablanca, Marrakech, Agadir, Meknes) were invited and impressed DJ Pogo with their skills.

Somehow in their busy schedule, DJ Pogo and Ty found time to make a recording and you can find them featured on a Hip Hop compilation (Anthology) mixed by DJ Reda and DJ Kay. DJ Pogo and Ty had a great time here, really liked the work they saw being done in hip hop and we were vey excited to see Ty return in 2004.
