There are many different online resources for job-hunters. Some websites allow you to post your CV and will pass this on to relevant organisations. Others offer careers advice and allow you to search their online jobs database. Here we’ve grouped together some online resources which may be particularly useful for researchers.
You can search for European job vacancies grouped by country or by research field on the EURAXESS jobs website. You can also add your CV to the database, and employers can post advertisements free of charge. This site also has information about funding opportunities in Europe.
Biology in Business aims to build a community which bridges academia and business. The website provides career resources, in particular for non-academic careers in the life sciences.
Find a PostDoc advertises Postdoc
jobs & Postdoctoral research posts around the world.
Jobs from all sectors are advertised in the Guardian and you can search the jobs database online. There is also a useful section giving advice about how to write applications, CVs, and covering letters, and how to prepare for interviews.
Use this resource to search for science, research and academic jobs in the UK and abroad. You can also subscribe to Jobs by e-mail for vacancies in universities, research institutions, and schools and charities.
The New Scientist online jobs pages allow you to search for jobs around the globe. You can also register, post your CV to the site and receive vacancy updates by e-mail.
As well as a searchable database of jobs, the Nature Jobs website has a careers magazine which includes information on salaries and postdoc resources, and a spotlights and regions section where you can access information about research in different areas around the world.
Prospects.ac.uk is the UK's official graduate careers website providing a huge range of invaluable information for the graduate market place.
Scenta works with leaders in the SET community to provide a gateway to the best information and resources for those pursuing a career in science, engineering and technology (SET).
The ScienceCareers.Org and Science Next Wave websites have merged to create a comprehensive website which offers careers advice and information about jobs, funding, meetings and events.
The Source Event is a dedicated Science Career Fair launched in 2007 by Naturejobs and London First. The event is split into a dynamic and exciting exhibition with plenary conference and workshop sessions running alongside. The next Source Event will be held in September 2008..
Talent Scotland offers information on the Life Science and Design Electronics industries in Scotland. You can browse the jobs listings or sign up for email job alerts. This site also has lots of useful practical information about moving to Scotland.
The Times Higher Education Supplement has a searchable jobs database and articles about careers in higher education.
Vacancies.ac.uk is a free service provided by Eduserv for the education community. Most of the vacancies advertised on the Vacancies service are within the UK academic sector and jobs are arranged under subject headings.
