The Prime Minister's Initiative for International Education
The Prime Minister's Initiative for International Education, commonly referred to as PMI2, is a five year strategy to secure the UK’s position as a leader in international education and sustain the managed growth of UK international education, delivered both in the UK and overseas. The strategy comprises four interconnected strands: UK positioning; ensuring the quality of the student experience; strategic partnerships and alliances; and diversification and consolidation of markets.

UK positioning: marketing & communications
Marketing and communications strategies to position the UK as a leader in international education and to increase the number of international students undertaking UK education, including details of the Education UK Brand and associated campaigns, website and publications, and the agents strategy.
The quality of the student experience
We must ensure that we understand and are able to respond to international students' expectations, ensuring the quality of all aspects of their experience from the visa processes, pre-departure and orientation; through to the quality of experience whilst studying and living in the UK.

The dramatic changes in international education suggest both the UK’s positioning and many of its markets will depend on strong strategic overseas partnerships.
Market diversification and consolidation
