In 2006, the British Council commissioned the Centre for Education Research and Social Inclusion at Sheffield Hallam University to undertake a qualitative research project to explore the approaches of UK Higher Education institutions to the provision of their courses to other countries via trans-national education (TNE). Semi-structured interviews were conducted with senior staff with responsibilities in this area in 12 UK HEIs. This project explored the activities of UK HEIs in their delivery of TNE programmes across the world.
