Undergraduate Study Mini Exhibition and International Schools Roadshow, Thailand
8 to 11 October 2007

British Council Thailand would like to support UK institutions in promoting undergraduate study in Thailand. Last year, the number of Thai students taking an undergraduate programme in the UK increased by 40 per cent. In addition, there are an increased number of Thai parents choosing for their children to study in an English environment from a very young age. This is shown by the dramatically increasing number of international schools in Thailand, bi-lingual programmes, and undergraduate exchange programmes. There are consequently more opportunities for these students to further their study abroad at first-degree level.

We visited several key international schools and talked to the head teachers to explore the possibility of organising an International School Roadshow. Their response was very positive. We therefore plan to organise the Undergraduate Study Mini Fair and International School Roadshow from Monday 8 to Thursday 11 October 2007.

The tentative programme includes:

  • Monday 8, Tuesday 9, Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 October 2007, pm: Visit four international schools in Bangkok, including: Harrow International School, Shrewsbury International School, Regent’s International School and Bangkok Pattana, and meet with the students. There might be an opportunity to do a presentation. According to a conversation with school administrators, the three most popular subjects for the students include science-related subjects, mathematics, and business and management.
  • Tuesday 9 October 2007, am: Meeting with agents who are very keen to recruit students for an undergraduate programme. Market briefing on undergraduate study in Thailand and a briefing from external guest speakers (tbc).
  • Wednesday 10 October 2007, evening: A three-hour mini exhibition at the British Council offices.
  • Tuesday 16 October 2007: Optional visit to Prem International School in Chiang Mai.

The programme may be subject to change and other international schools may be substituted.

The management fee is:

This includes transportation, lunch and coffee breaks where applicable. We can take up to eight institutions only. Stand sharing of up to two institutions is available at a premium of twenty per cent on the cost of participation. All applications will be treated on a first-come, first-served basis and will be subject to consultation with the four international schools. As the number of places is limited, please note that priority will be given in the following order:

  • Thailand Partnership members
  • All other Education UK Partnership members
  • All other UK education providers

This event is now closed for applications.
