This year’s Higher Education Fair has, as usual, been organised in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Grand Bay and the Ministry of Education and Human Resources and is an integral part of the International Careers Guidance / Higher Educational Fair.
Last year, we had 30,000 visitors to the Fair and we are expecting a similar number this year.

By booking your stand through the British Council, you will be placed in a corridor containing only UK universities. UK colleges will be grouped together but be placed in the same corridor as that of UK universities. Apart from that, you will also benefit from the following facilities provided by the British Council:
- Education UK branding of the corridor
- one helper per stand
- advertising (newspaper, British Council website)
- press conference and cocktail before the event
- market intelligence (up-to-date information on how the Mauritian market is evolving: briefing and handouts)
- generic talks on UCAS during the fair to a smaller but more targeted audience
- a hotel booking service for the Labourdonnais and Le Suffren hotels, offering preferential rates
- a bus service from the hotel to the conference centre in the mornings and back to the hotel in the evenings
- all participants will receive a participant’s badge to facilitate ease of entry to the exhibition hall.
Stand sharing is not available for this event.
Please note that the participation fee does not include international or domestic travel, accommodation, subsistence or freight, except where stated.
Payment should be made in two instalments:
- GBP 650 to be paid by 14 April 2009
- GBP 650 to be paid by 22 June 2009
Following a highly successful Alumni Dinner last year, we are pleased to host another dinner this year. It will be held at the British High Commissioner’s Residence on Thursday 21 May 2009.
This event is an excellent opportunity to network with local officials – one key stakeholder from the Mauritian education sector will be present at each table. It also allows universities to touch base with their alumni in Mauritius or to create an alumni network.
Reservations can be made on the application form. Due to high demand, this should be done by 14 April 2009 at the latest.
Fee: GBP 400 per table seating ten people, payable by 8 May 2009.
Advertising will be undertaken, as in previous years, by the British Council. Should you want to place a separate advertisement in a local newspaper, the artwork, in TIFF or JPEG format, should be sent to the event co-ordinator. The invoice will be sent to you as soon as you submit the artwork. There will be a booklet which will be published exclusively for the fair. We encourage you to put your institution’s advertisement (costing approximately GBP 100) in the booklet, as it has wide coverage. Please note that the deadline for this is 31 March 2009.
