Summer Education Exhibitions, China
13 June to 5 July 2009

This event has now taken place. An event report will be made available at a later date.

British Council China would like to invite Education UK Partnership members and Accreditation UK accredited institutions to participate in various local international education exhibitions in June and July 2009 which are being organised by local Chinese authorities.

The Chinese National Matriculation Examination (Gao Kao) finishes on 8 June every year and all the primary schools, secondary schools, colleges and universities around the country finish the school year in early July. Therefore, a large number of students and their parents will need to make decisions about education paths for the coming or following years.

These events are mainly for recruiting students in foundation, A-Level, HND and English courses; however, as International exhibitions, they also attract some students who are interest in undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

British Council China will participate in these events and has managed to negotiate an Education UK area to host all the participating UK institutions. The British Council’s role is to:

  • invite UK institutions to participate in the UK areas
  • negotiate with local organisers and organise an Education UK branded area at the exhibitions to showcase the Education UK brand among the target audience
  • provide UK participants with local Chinese market information
  • distribute Education UK generic promotional material to target visitors, in particular, information introducing UK institutions
  • promote the UK summer school programme
  • deliver generic Education UK presentations to the target audience
  • provide assistance in arranging meetings with officials from education commissions/departments and/or visits to local Chinese institutions who are interested in discussing co-operative programmes with UK institution representatives.
