Education UK Postgraduate Week, Brazil
3 to 7 October 2007

An Download PDF Document event report (271KB) [Education UK Partnership password required] is available.

After conducting market research, we have identified a more focused approach to promoting UK education in Brazil - the postgraduate niche markets. The first Education UK Postgraduate Week in Brazil will provide institutions with:

  • shorter, more focused visits;
  • minimum cost;
  • quality audience instead of quantity.

Unfortunately, the dates of this event coincide with those in Argentina and Chile. The Education UK team in Brazil tried different dates, but because of national holidays and venue availability, the first week of October was the only viable option. Brazil confirmed its dates before Argentina and Chile, but because these exhibitions are not organised directly by the British Council, we were unable to alter them. We are working with Argentina and Chile to organise brochure/poster exhibitions, so institutions can participate in all events.

  • The program covers only the main events in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. The Brazil team will be happy to help institutions that want to build a customised calendar visiting other cities or liaising with local contacts.
  • On the mornings of 4 and 5 October 2007, the Rio de Janeiro office will be available for one-to-one interviews scheduled with students met at the event on the previous night. The same will happen in Sao Paulo on 7 October 2007.
  • Institutions will previously elect whether to hold an on-line Live Chat session to all of Brazil in one of the afternoons at the Rio de Janeiro event. More details will be given in the event handbook.
  • Institutions' presentations will be attended by students pre-registered and filtered by the British Council, so that each institution interacts with an audience compatible with its strengths and strategy.
  • Presentations in Sao Paulo will be webcast live to the whole country and later made available on the web so that students can watch them.
  • A few weeks before the actual event, on-line presentations will be available for students on the British Council’s website, preparing them to meet the institutions. General themes like postgraduate courses, Chevening, English & IELTS and studying in the UK will be explored, so that during the Postgraduate Week, the pre-registered students feel prepared for a higher level of discussion with UK representatives.
