Projectorhead is a campaign to encourage international students studying in the UK to create video diaries of their experiences. The aim is for current and prospective students to create and share videos, network with each other and form mutually beneficial relationships with Education UK and each other.
The purpose of Projectorhead is to capture examples of how international students perceive the value of studying in the UK – in terms of both academic and life experience. This will engage prospective international students by offering meaningful examples of actual students' experiences.
The hub of the campaign is the Projectorhead website: www.educationuk.org/projectorhead. This provides:

video upload facility. |
Once a student uploads their video, it is pre-screened by Education UK staff and posted onto the Projectorhead YouTube channel. Prospective international students will be encouraged to watch the videos and rate them, with the most popular videos earning their creators a prize worth up to GBP 200. In addition, students who upload exceptionally high-quality or popular videos will be approached to create commissioned content for use across various Education UK platforms.
Projectorhead is supported by a range of targeted promotional activity, including:
on-line display advertising on YouTube, the Google content network and The Student Room |
e-marketing to students on the Education UK database |
print distribution using the Boomerang network in institutions nationwide. |
A promotional ‘viral’ video has also been produced, which has been seeded into video sharing and social networking websites to encourage word-of-mouth promotion.
