What types of membership are there?
You can either apply for individual membership or membership on behalf of your institution.

Cost of membership
Depending on the services you want to use memberships starts from ETB 70 for basic book membership. For full details of the loan limits and memberships available see our Loan limit and membership categories page.

How do I apply ?
You will need to bring your completed application form together with to our centre in Addis Ababa. You can register Tuesday to Saturday between 10.00am and 6.00pm.
Your application form must include the signature of a sponsor, which can be an employer, parent, dean or department head of a college or university. If this has been completed your application will be automatically accepted.

Loan/Return Procedures
As a member you will be required to hand in your membership card to the circulation staff to borrow or return materials at the Circulation Desk. You should collect your membership card after your transaction details have been recorded.
Members should return borrowed items on time or before the due date.

Reservations and Renewals
In order to reserve items, you will need to fill a reservation slip at the Circulation Desk. You will then be notified when the item is available. The item will be held for three days after notification.
Except for test and exam materials, all other items may be renewed for an additional loan period as long as no one has requested or reserved the item. Renewal can be done either by bringing the items in or by calling the reservation desk (Please call on 011 156 31 15). You will need to quote the borrower or reference code details of any items if renewing them over the phone.

Each bay of books has a list on the end panel outlining the subjects covered on those shelves There is also a computerised catalogue - OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue), listing every item in the library. If you are looking for a specific item, you can use the OPAC workstations or ask the staff to assist you.
