THE MULTICULTURAL MULTILINGUAL CLASSROOM

Teachers are currently experiencing increasing numbers of students whose L1 is not Spanish in the classroom. This brings challenges but it also provides a unique opportunity to incorporate culture and issues surrounding multiculturalism.

In this session we will look at the teaching opportunities the multicultural classroom offers us and material to support this work. In addition we will discuss how these activities can contribute to a more understanding classroom and foster better relationships between students.

This session is suitable for teachers of Secondary students but all are welcome.

Lesley Keast is a Senior Teacher, Teacher Development at the British Council's Madrid Young Learners Centre, providing training for native an non-native teachers of English. Prior to working for the British Council she was the Director of Studies of an international school for young learners in the UK. She has also taught in Italy, Hungary and Portugal.

Places are limited - book a place by sending an email to:

The session will take place at the British Council, Paseo del General Martinez Campos 31, Madrid.

You are invited to a drink and snacks at the end of the session.
