Looking for community leaders of the future

Are you passionate about learning? Are you passionate about developing your leadership skills? Are you interested in cultural diversity? We are looking for Moroccan leaders who are willing to participate in the Leadership in Community Development Project - LICD.

Leadership in Community Development

Leadership in Community Development (LICD) is the transformational leadership programme that the British Council is running in Syria, Jordan, Palestine, Tunisia, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Algeria, and the UK.  “LICD” incorporates our previously known InterAction Leadership Programme.

We aim to develop a powerful network of like-minded leaders to contribute to positive social change in their individual communities.

“LICD” is distinct from other leadership training in that it inspires individuals to identify themselves as leaders and equips them with the tools to engage constructively and enable them to remove the barriers to positive social change within their communities.

This exciting new programme will be an innovative journey that brings participants in the involved countries together with their peers in the UK to share learning, good practice and encourage debates that inspire people to action.

We have been running the InterAction programme since 2003 in Sub-Saharan Africa. To date over 3,000 participants from 19 countries have completed the course.

Benefits of taking part in LICD

Being involved with LICD can have a number of lasting and positive benefits including:

enhance your capacities to take ownership and make creative choices
facilitate a process which allows you to think differently and act powerfully
connect you with existing opportunities to create more prospects of positive social change
strengthen your links and connections with people in the Arab region and the UK
provide you with the opportunity to take part and/or lead on community development projects
link you into country and international networks to share best practice

What's in it for organisations?

recognising that ”LICD” participants are doing better jobs
leadership development of staff with no participant fees during this pilot year

The programme will run between November 2008 and 2010 and consists of a series of residential trainings, Café Society sessions, and community development projects.
