Registration for the new term

We hope that you enjoyed your course at British Council. If you‘d like to continue, remember to reregister at the Customer Services desk after your last lesson. If you’re interested in taking other types of courses like Business English or Exam preparation, talk to your teacher. They can advise you on what might suit your needs. You will have time to discuss this in your last lesson during counselling.

You may have noticed that there are new faces welcoming you at the reception and answering your enquiries about your course. Just so that you can get to know them better, here is a short introduction from Fabiola Fernandez who joined us last month as Customer Services Agent

Fabiola has a master degree in Business Communications and a bachelor in Business Administration. In the past, she used to work in different public relations of companies such as Avon & Condé Nast Editions. She feels strongly committed to the British Council because she shares the values of promoting the education, the arts and specially, the policy of equal opportunities and no discrimination. Fabiola loves to travel and discover new cultures and places. She enjoys jazz music and reading.  She collaborates as a volunteer with a Homeless House named “Casa Hogar Alegría” for abandoned or violated girls, which is located in Toluca. No doubt about it, her family, new little dog and friends are the most important belongings for her.

Young Learner Courses – Registration

Although the long ‘Guadalupe-Reyes’ holidays are just around the corner, it’s not too late for your son or daughter take English classes at The British Council! We realise that many of you couldn’t sign up in August because you didn’t know what your children’s timetables would look like. So we have decided to reopen registration for existing classes during the week of 12-17th October. The price for the eight weeks (19th October – 12th December) is $3,940 pesos. If your child has not taken English classes recently, we would recommend making an appointment for a placement test by calling Customer Services on 5263 1900

Younger learners – bring a friend and get a free gift!

Our feedback shows that parents are really happy with our Young Learner courses. If you want to recommend these courses to your friends for their children to start on the 19th of October, then you can take advantages of our special offer! Bring a friend to us and if they register for the course, your child and their friend will receive a free Macmillan School Dictionary!

British Council’s Got Talent – End of Term Event

We all drank and ate. We all sang. And the Mexicans showed the Brits who really has talent! Suleika Meraz Ortiz from New Advanced won over a rather tough judgement panel with her rendition of 'Personal Jesus' - Depeche Mode. The best group was the Mexican Sugababes - Trio who charmed the judges with their passionate rendition of 'Like a Virgin.'

As for the rest..your efforts were appreciated and you all provided us with entertainment . Special thanks as well to Elvis who made a rare appearance not once but twice! If you still disheartened after the judges comments, at least you are better than John and Edward - the twins who are doing very well on the X-Factor without any talent.

Conversation Club News

British Council gives the opportunity for young people to work as language assistants. Their role is to bring English alive in public schools and universities as well as expanding the students’ cultural awareness. In British Council, they are here to facilitate Conversation Club too.

Here’s the chance to get to know them better. Now we have Gina Forster.

I spent last year working for the British Council in Zacatecas, and decided that really, I wasn´t ready to leave Mexico... so here I am for another year. I now give classes in a Secondary School in the centre of Mexico City, and, in my spare time, I try to discover all the wonderful things that Mexico has to offer. So far I have really enjoyed the conversation club, the students always have something to say, and I really like that they take full advantage of the opportunity to talk and practice their English!

I´m not sure what the future holds... I have already prolonged my stay in Mexico for one year, so who knows what could happen in another...
