ARTISTIC POLICY Walk the Plank creates outdoor and site-specific work varying in scale from intimate to epic, often mixing striking visual images and special effects with music and performance. Engagement of local people in the process of making the show is often important for one-off events that celebrate particular locations or occasions. Touring work is often produced in collaboration with other companies.

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS Gulliver’s Boom Box Engaging, high energy street dance on a giant ghetto blaster containing hydraulic lifts and lighting. 6 dancers/3 crew on tour; up to 3 performances per day, 30 mins duration. Le Jardin Flambé 3 performers bring the Fire Garden to life…a beautiful installation of gas-powered trees, flaming flower boxes, and pyrotechnic effects, with music. Up to 2500 audience. 25–30 minutes duration. 7 on tour Swan Song Waterborne show with pyro effects throughout, perfect for rivers and lakes; adapted to each site. Touring team up to 7. Show duration up to 45 mins.
FUTURE PRODUCTIONS The Difference Engine Commission for the Manchester International Festival 09, the show will use puppetry and performance to create a steampunk journey for children aged 7 upwards, looking at the science of invention and the punchcard world of mathematical challenges.
WRAP-AROUND Company Fierce’s Artistic Director, Darren Pritchard, can undertake residency or workshop/masterclasses in advance of performances. We create workshop programme to stimulate participation around shows – including carnival theatre, lantern & fire techniques, and production.
