ARTISTIC POLICY
Red Shift exists to create innovative theatre with intellectual reach and broad appeal, and to challenge audience expectations through experiments with form and content. After 25 years of touring nationally and internationally, Red Shift remains enormously popular. We take it that our job is self-evidently to inform and entertain, while reminding audiences of what it is to be human.

REVIEW EXTRACTS
Superb…reeks of sweat and piss, and disappointed dreams…quite brilliant, cool as heck…drama of the highest order…small-scale miracle.
The Guardian (Get Carter)
Holloway has developed a very idiosyncratic theatrical language which... is very effective, as the long applause at the end showed. It is gritty, violent and bleak and set in a world which most of us will never know, and yet the presentation distances us from the grittiness, violence and bleakness just enough to reflect on what it has to say about people.
British Theatre Guide (Get Carter)
Puts the laughs back into the comedy: Simon Spencer-Hyde's Dogberry has some terrific routines, created by Clown Tweedy, that hark back to the era of variety. In the programme, Holloway suggests that his approach owes more to Eric Morecambe and Shirley Bassey than Grotowski and Artaud, and that's very true in a cabaret-style production that in both sound and look captures a glossy yet tatty aesthetic.

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
The Fall of Man
The set is a bed on which an adulterous relationship decays over the course of a single night.  This is intense explicit theatre (strong language and nudity) with no member of the audience more than 5m away.  Using micro-choreography, original text and passages of John Milton, lit only by a single candle, the effect is something close to emotional surgery without anaesthetic.
45 Minutes duration and can be played repeatedly enabling higher audience attendance, no interval, 2 onstage, 1–2 on the road, can be performed anywhere that is quiet and secure, minimal stage lighting, set can be sourced locally

FUTURE PRODUCTIONS
The Fall of Man is Part 1 of the Death Grip Series of performances charting the agony of human relationships through unusual, sometimes confrontational, sometimes humorous scenarios presented as small-scale and site-specific productions. Details will be posted at www.redshifttheatreco.co.uk as the projects emerge.

WRAP-AROUND
Director Jonathan Holloway is an experienced university and conservatoire teacher and a published playwright and senior academic able to deliver workshops of a high order in conjunction with the production.
