ARTISTIC POLICY
Suspect Culture develops new work which explores performance in a variety of forms. Each project is developed collaboratively with a range of artists, and is characterised by the equal emphasis given to sound, movement, lighting, design and text. As well as producing work for the theatre the company has recently begun to develop projects in other media including visual arts and film.

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
Static A co-production with Graeae exploring a story of love, loss and compilation tapes. The show features fully integrated sign language as part of the script. (90 mins, with no interval, 4 on stage, 6 on the road, includes moderate use of strong language.)

Missing A short film looking at the life of a woman whose husband disappeared several years before. Available for screening alongside live performances. (12.5 mins)

WRAP-AROUND
Suspect Culture has recently launched a new Interpretation Strategy aimed at giving audiences a greater insight into the themes, motivations and techniques that inform the company’s work. As part of this strategy the company delivers a programme of workshops and post-show discussions around each of its shows, and looks to work with promoters to adapt and tailor these events to particular groups or audiences. Interpretation activities for Static include post-show discussions and pre-show screenings of Missing as well as a selection of workshops exploring the following topics: Creative Collaboration, looking at the processes artists use to devise new work (aimed at theatre students at a tertiary education level); The Aesthetics of Access, looking at Graeae’s innovative approach to theatre which works accessibility into the fabric of each production; and Themes of Show, a workshop exploring how we respond in the face of loss and in the absence of facts (aimed at secondary education students, ages 14–15+). Suspect Culture is keen to develop activities which tie in closely to each promoter’s programme of work and the company is open to exploring ideas for new activities related to each production.
