ARTISTIC POLICY
As one of the UK’s largest producing, co-producing and presenting touring companies, National Theatre of Scotland (NTS) works with the best Scottish and international artists to promote world-class theatre. In so doing, NTS aims to play a key role in the cultural life of Scotland and to develop a sustainable, international and diverse audience, creating a high-quality touring body of work and fostering a culture of creative learning.

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
Black Watch Written by Gregory Burke; directed by John Tiffany. Viewed through the eyes of those on the ground, Black Watch reveals what it means to be part of the legendary Scottish regiment, when it engages in the war on terror. (110 mins, 10 on stage, 22 on the road, contains strong language and scenes of a violent nature.)

Realism Written and directed by Anthony Neilson. A magical trip into the mundane seen through the eyes of a modern-day Everyman. Companion piece to The Wonderful World of Dissocia. (85 mins 7 on stage, 14 on the road, contains strong language and scenes of a sexual nature.)

The Wonderful World of Dissocia Written and directed by Anthony Neilson. Lisa Jones is on a journey. It’s a colourful and exciting off-kilter trip in search of one lost hour that has tipped the balance of her life. (85 mins, with interval, 8 on stage, 15 on the road, strong language and scenes of a sexual nature.)

The Wolves in the Walls A theatrical adaptation of the popular book by Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean. A musical pandemonium incorporating song and puppetry aimed at everyone over 6 who isn’t a scaredy-cat. (70 mins, 8 on stage, 16 on the road.)

The Bacchae Euripides’ classic in a new version by David Greig, directed by John Tiffany. Dionysus – icon and hedonist – has come home with his female cult to clear his mother's name. A charismatic, forceful figure, his very presence enraptures the local women, awakening their own Bacchic spirit. (110 mins, 15 on stage, 28 on the road.)

Molly Sweeney By Brian Friel, directed by Gregory Thompson. Blind since childhood, Molly Sweeney has learnt to recognise and enjoy her world by touch and smell. But when she marries Frank, she embarks on a dangerous, emotional journey to restore her sight. (150 mins, 15 min interval, 3 on stage, 6 on the road.)

Aalst A disturbing and revelatory glimpse into the thoughts of two murderers, based on the real events of a 1999 Belgian family drama. Cast includes Kate Dickie and Davey McKay. A co-production with Victoria, Belgium and Tramway, Glasgow. (65 minutes, 2 on stage, 5 on the road, contains strong language and scenes of a sexual nature.)

Peer Gynt In a new version by Colin Teevan, directed by Dominic Hill. Peer Gynt is a dreamer, a liar and a womaniser. Cast out from his hometown, he embarks on a wild and astonishing journey in search of fame and fortune and ultimately of himself. A co-production with Dundee Rep. (150 mins, with interval, 18 on stage, 28 on the road, contains strong language.)

FUTURE PRODUCTIONS
Little Otik Adapted from the cult film by Jan Svankmajer, this magical horror story tells the tale of a childless couple whose obsession to conceive brings a wood carving to life… with monstrous results. A co-production with Vanishing Point, Glasgow.

WRAP-AROUND
The full support of the NTS Learn Department will be available to support most of these touring productions. Activities on offer include master-classes with creative teams; workshops for schools and life-long learning groups; pre- and post-show discussions.
