ARTISTIC POLICY Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company is a contemporary dance company based in London whose work expresses the vision of its Artistic Director Shobana Jeyasingh. Founded in 1988, the company has produced imaginative, innovative, and critically acclaimed work that has given cultural diversity a unique spin. The company has successfully promoted dance as a medium for engagement and entertainment, and makes work for both conventional theatre and outdoor sites.

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS The Dancers’ Cut A small-scale retrospective to celebrate the company’s 20th anniversary in 2008. Four dancers and a film-maker look back at the best work from recent years. 75 mins, 4 on stage, 5–6 on the road Faultline Multi-lingual movement, film and a powerful score evokes the current tensions of British Asian youth. FUTURE PRODUCTIONS Jeyasingh’s new work (title tbc) introduces a unique script for the moving body, exploring the idea that food is a perfect metaphor for shifting identities. Available in spring–autumn 2009.
WRAP-AROUND The company has a strong education and outreach programme that includes Masterclasses, workshops for ages 4–18, vocational dance programmes, community work with refugees and elders, pre and post-show talks and lecture-demonstrations.
