PERMANENT STAFF Artist/Director Rosemary Lee Artists’ Producer (for Artsadmin) Nicky Childs
ARTISTIC POLICY Rosemary Lee has been choreographing, performing, and directing for twenty years since graduating from the Laban Centre. Lee works in a variety of contexts, constituencies, and media, with the aim of reaching new audiences. She works with a wide variety of performers of all ages and experiences. Her work ranges from films for broadcast television, interactive installations to commissioned works for dance companies in theatre settings.
REVIEW EXTRACTS Lee's art achieves a transcendence that has little to do with commonly held aesthetic values in dance. It is about engaging with a life force that is expressed, not through words but through the innocence of a body with no preconceptions of itself. Catherine Hale, Dance Theatre Journal Excellent! The most imaginative and engaging piece I’ve seen since OLlut Eliason’s sun at the Tate. Best thing in London today. Visitor to Remote Dancing
CURRENT PRODUCTIONS Rosemary’s short films Boy. Infanta and Greenman (made in collaboration with Peter Anderson) and Snow (made in collaboration with David Hinton) are all available for presentation: Dancing Nation, a documentary for the Foundation for Community Dance about the power of dance in different people’s lives is also available. The interactive video installation Remote Dancing and the interactive sound dance installation Stereo Dances can be reconstructed for specific contexts
