PERMANENT STAFF Choreographer/performer Anna Krzystek
ARTISTIC POLICY Anna Krzystek creates challenging, thought provoking, and visually engaging work inspired by concepts relating to time, space, and the human condition that can be appreciated by a wide range of viewers.
REVIEW EXTRACTS STILL certainly side-stepped the mainstream with persuasive conviction, producing work that rewarded necessary concentration by sending our thoughts and imaginings into energising freefall. The Herald Krzystek’s movements were performed with such precision, such incredible balance, they couldn’t fail to captivate. The Scotsman (TEST) This was something special. What was distinct about the performance was that it was not timeless but time-full, and it hinted at temporal endlessness. Live Art Magazine (TEST)
CURRENT PRODUCTIONS STILL is the second in a series of solo pieces following TEST. STILL explores the openness of an installation while using structural tensions and the clearly defined frontal perspective found in theatre and film. The performer is able to fall in and out of focus, giving space and time for the spectator’s eye to freely engage with other collaborative aspects of the work. Concept and performance by Anna Krzystek, original sound score by Tom Murray and film installation by Lucy Cash. 45 minutes, no interval. 2–3 on the road
FUTURE PRODUCTIONS FIGURE THIS is the third in a series of solo pieces following TEST. FIGURE THIS aims to observe the figure more closely, unveiling newly found aspects of her presence. The performer moves through a series of choreographic acts that sees her pushed to extremes. These acts are compulsive and enduring, they commence and end without warning leaving the figure suspended in periods of 'not doing'. It is precisely in these gaps of 'not doing’ that the figure is revealed and a sense of closeness can be felt. Concept and performance by Anna Krzystek. Original sound score by Tom Murray and visuals by Anna Krzystek & Daniela Di Paulis, stills by Tim Nunn. 45 minutes, no interval. 2–3 on the road
WRAP-AROUND Workshops include classes in contemporary dance technique, choreography/movement composition and discussions/talks about the work and working process. The aim of the workshops is to share relevant information that can be used to enhance and support artistic practice.
