Bringing you the best of new British music once a week

Q: Which British music radio show can you hear in countries across the world including Colombia, Slovakia, Montenegro, Mexico and Vietnam?

A: The Selector

The Selector is a two-hour radio show featuring the best in contemporary UK music, across all styles. It reflects the brilliance and diversity of British music, promoting to the world the new sounds, talents and musical culture of modern Britain. The aim is to challenge people’s perceptions about the UK and showcase the wealth of creativity and innovation on offer here.

'More radical in its programming than all music radio in Britain.'
The Guardian

The show is a collaborative project by the British Council, the production company Somethin' Else and the radio stations around the world that broadcast The Selector show. The idea was conceived in the UK by the British Council's Music team in 2001 and since this time the show has been broadcast in over 30 countries and built up a loyal audience worldwide. The Selector has also won awards including Radio Progamme of the Year in Hungary and the presitgious gold award for Best Weekly Music Programme at Sony Radio Academy Awards.

The 400th weekly Selector show was recently broadcast and our new presenter, Goldierocks, joined us in June 2009.

As well as being broadcast traditionally, each week's show is also available on The Selector website - www.selector-radio.com - together with features, videos and a session archive.
