London Book Fair has signed an agreement marking China as the Market Focus partner of The London Book Fair (LBF) 2012. As LBF's partner, the British Council aims to provide a rich and varied Market Focus cultural programme, and we are committed to expanding links between China and the UK.

Over the last three years, the British Council has created opportunities for international collaboration and highlighted the cultural context of the Arab World in 2008, India in 2009 working closely with The London Book Fair to provide publishers from emerging markets the opportunity to forge new relationships with their counterparts in the UK. In 2010 the fair ran from 19 - 21 April at Earls Court in London.

As well as a wide programme of events at the Fair and outside it, the British Council provide the British Council Welcome Point (BCWP) and the International Young Publishing Entrepreneur stands.
Despite a lack of a few international fair-goers due to the recent volcanic eruption, the UK International Young Publishing Entrepreneur awards ceremony went ahead. Publisher and Managing Director of Profile Books’ Andrew Franklin, who chaired the judging panel, presented the award to social entrepreneur and former journalist Gavin Weale (pictured left).
