Jane Greenfield of cutting-edge dance consortium Guardians of Doubt and Mark Ball of Birmingham’s Fierce festival shared their experiences of conceiving cutting-edge dance and live art events at a new international dance conference coordinated by Itaú Cultural and held in Brazil in May.

The event for academics, critics, programmers and artists working in contemporary dance, confronted differing ideas and opinions from around the world. It included a series of working groups which discussed proposals and thoughts that had been previously raised via email and audio/video conferencing using British Council facilities.

The process of preparation and the final documentation from the conference will be used as future tools for reflection, and will be offered by Itaú Cultural for the international dance community in a website.
