Learn English in Eritrea
Are you keen to develop your English language skills? British Council Eritrea may be able to help!

We provide English language courses for staff from government Ministries and other organisations, NGOs, Embassies and licensed businesses.

How can we help you?
Our English language courses range from Elementary to Lower Advanced.
Each level consists of two parts and you will need fifty hours of teaching to complete each part.
Our levels are:

Elementary
Preintermediate
Intermediate
Upper Intermediate
Upper Intermediate Business
First Certificate Preparation
BEC Preparation

Who will teach me?
The British Council teaching team are all highly qualified and have many years of experience between them. Our team will be delighted to meet you.

How will I learn?
British Council Eritrea teachers will support you in learning communicatively. This means that you will have plenty of opportunities in the classroom to talk in English sometimes to your teacher and sometimes to each other. Your teacher will often ask you to work together in pairs or groups. You will also practice listening to reading texts which will show you how English is really used in the modern world. Teachers will help you to develop your awareness of the grammar and vocabulary of the language but don’t forget that these language aspects are just a tool – to help you use English fluently, accurately and in the situations that you need.

Will I receive a certificate?
All students who successfully complete the course will receive a British Council certificate of language learning that will show your language level. Certification includes:

Successful completion of assignments and participation in class.
Attendance no less than 70% of the course.
Success in the end of level test.

How will counselling help me?
At the end of the course, you and your teacher will take part in a counselling session so that your teacher can let you know your strengths and where you can develop further. This is to help you plan for your future language learning – and is not a negative experience.
