If you are a visa national the law says that you must obtain entry clearance, known as a visa, before travelling. To find out if you are a visa national, contact us or the British Embassy.
If you want to study in the UK you must obtain a student visa. If you obtain a standard visit visa you will not be allowed to stay longer than the time allowed for your visit. This means that if you then decide that you want to stay in the UK to study, you will have to leave to return home to obtain entry clearance as a student.
To obtain any form of entry clearance at a British Embassy, you must meet the UK regulations. Your visa application VAF1 (available at www.ukvisas.gov.uk and also at the British Embassy) the form must be submitted in good time to avoid missing the beginning of your main course or any earlier induction course or pre-course English language study. Visas are normally valid for up to six months before you plan to travel.
Applications must be submitted together with:

two or three recent passport-sized photographs |

|
evidence of sponsorship (e.g. your award offer letter) |

|
entry clearance fee |
|
|
|
relevant diplomas or education certificates that you hold |

a letter from your place of study confirming acceptance on a course, what qualifications the course will lead to, and a statement of charges for the course. |
