“The University of Sheffield is strongly committed to the integration and support of European activities. Embracing the opportunities that are offered by the Erasmus programme strengthen the University's international standing in terms of teaching and research whilst promoting its position within existing and new markets. Incoming and returning Erasmus students add tremendously to the teaching environment. Academic staff find this a very valuable and stimulating input. Staff teaching mobility and training add further to creating a global dimension to the teaching, research and other activities at the University. The University supports all activities of the Erasmus scheme and fully endorses the ethos of it.”
Mrs Dorte Stevenson, Head of International Exchanges Unit, University of Sheffield
“Spending time abroad with Erasmus is a great opportunity for students to make the most of their academic career whilst immersing themselves in a culture quite different from their own. The Erasmus experience is very worthwhile and we believe it adds significant value to a student's experience, both personally and academically, and can even enhance a student's employability in an ever more competitive graduate recruitment market”.
Rose Matthews, the International Officer at Cardiff University
“Dartington College of Arts, which has now been incorporated into University College Falmouth, sent out seven members of its staff under the staff training element of the Erasmus programme. The feedback from these experiences has been very positive. Staff were able to engage with the varied strategies and different cultural approaches within the practice of arts organisations and professional companies, and had the opportunity to carry out workshops, seminars and practice based events and learn new ways of disseminating arts practice to a wide range of people. Since being back in Dartington, these experiences have been applied to the development of strategies and pedagogies in arts and context, practice, and research, within the institution. Overall the benefit to the whole institution has been significant."
Roger Sell, Director International Development, University College Falmouth, Dartington Campus
"We aim to produce graduates fully equipped to achieve the highest personal and professional standards and believe that the Erasmus programme has an integral role to play in this. Erasmus offers students a challenging and exciting educational experience providing them with new perspectives on their chosen subject area and an understanding of different cultures. The programme is not only a fantastic opportunity for our students but it also strengthens the University's international standing. With around 250 students participating every year, we are proud to be one of the UK's leading universities for student involvement in the Erasmus programme."
Sandra Morris, Deputy Head/LLP (ERASMUS) Co-ordinator, International Office, University of Edinburgh
