Universities from across the UK were asked to submit their staff and student's winning essay and photography portfolio that highlighted the reasons why they think more students and staff should take part in the Erasmus programme, based on their experiences of living, studying, working and teaching abroad in Europe. Winning students and staff will be invited to receive their exciting prizes and awards at the British Council Erasmus Prize Ceremony on 12 November.
Congratulations to all the students who took part.
One of Marie Martyn's fantastic photos from her Erasmus period in Norway is shown here on the left. She says:
"A placement abroad is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Just to look at vastly different landscapes could be a reason for taking part in Erasmus. This is the perfect picture to demonstrate this thought, taken at Austerdalen on a field trip."
You can view more photos on the British Council flickr page page and also download 'The Stories Behind the Statistics' brochure that highlights some of the great photos and stories from the last three Erasmus Competitions.
Shaun Marrinan writes engagingly about taking the plunge on his Erasmus period in Slovenia Ruairi Edwards an Economics, Politics and International Student explains why his Erasmus year in Paris took him by surprise Emma Matthews who went to the University of Strasbourg in France, offers us an intimate slice of first hand Erasmus reality Julia Kennedy is an administrative member of staff at Robert Gordon Unviersity and convinces other members of staff as to why they should also take part in an Erasmus period abroad.
