Proposals are assessed by the ELTeCS Latin America project proposals committee. The committee consists of four members: the Co-ordinator, two regional ELTeCS representatives, and Manager English Language Networking. (If members of the committee put forward project proposals of their own, they stand down from the committee for the relevant meeting.)

ELTeCS project funding results autumn 2003

1. Workshop: Designing and developing web-based ELT materials for intercultural education in state schools

Project manager: Mariza Riva de Almeida
Aims:

At the end of the event, participants will:

			Produce an electronic template to guide the development of intercultural ELT supplementary materials*
			Identify topics for future materials development particularly relevant to state schools
			Produce an initial group of accessible and usable lessons on intercultural themes
			Promote networking of public school teachers and higher education institutions in Brazil and enhancing links between teachers of language and culture throughout Brazil and other countries.

* for state school teachers and students from the 5th to the 8th grade, usually in large classes of about 40 students, with basic knowledge of the target language.
