ELTeCS projects
Latin America 2001

Proposals are assessed by the ELTeCS Latin America project proposals committee. The committee consists of four members: the Co-ordinator, two regional ELTeCS representatives, and Manager English Language Networking. (If members of the committee put forward project proposals of their own, they stand down from the committee for the relevant meeting.)

ELTeCS project funding results spring 2001

1. Setting Standards for Latin America EFL Evaluation Methodologies

Project manager: Renate Thummler, Mexico
Aims:

To study the process of development of standardisation of EFL exams for public schools
To open a space for networking among Latin American and UK test design specialists, through a workshop to be held in June 2001
2. Workshop: Development of Teachers Associations effectively

Project manager - Anne Wiseman, Peru
Aims:

To bring together leaders of teachers’ associations throughout the Latin America region
To identify possible intra-country links between Latin American teachers’ organisations
To identify modes of sustaining communication both in country and inter country.

3. Setting up the Latin American Association of English Language Professionals APLIAL (Associao dos Profissionais da Lingua Inglesa DA America Latina)

Aims:

To build and enhance professional identity of English language professionals
To enable contacts of the members through creating APLIAL homepage and publishing of the APLIAL newsletter, to be sent by post.
