ELTeCS project funding results Spring 2004

Regional workshop for teacher development groups co-ordinating teaching of literature in the classroom in East Africa

Project manager: Fredrick Odhiambo, Kenya
Teachers from: Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda
Aims:

To enhance Regional Co-operation among English Language Teachers in East Africa (Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania).
To encourage and give professional support to teachers working in isolated environments with little state support.
To help teachers in (b) above acquire the knowledge and skills of teaching literature in English in the classroom.
To integrate the teaching of English Language and literature in English.
To help ELT teachers pool their resources, share responsibilities and ideas, identify problems they face in teaching literature in English and search for solutions to the problems.
