IATEFL Young Learners and Teenagers SIG & Systemic International Conference on
'Content Based Instruction (CLIL) for Young Learners:
Breaking through traditional boundaries'

Jointly organized by IATEFL YL Sig and Systemic, Maceio, Brazil

The conference has three main aims:
- to spread the idea of TEYL (Teaching English to Young Learners) through content
- to provide a good forum for debate, information exchange, and dissemination of good practice for those who already use content-based instruction
- to contribute to the improvement of the level of TEYL in Brazil.
The participants will include teachers from the private and public sectors, school co-ordinators, directors, and policy makers.

There will be plenaries, workshops, and six-hour courses.

LABCI (Latin America British Cultural Institutes) has held eleven Conferences, the first of which took place in Montevideo in 1985, and the latest in Sao Paulo in 2007. We are deeply honoured to be carrying out this task for the second time, after the Fifth LABCI Conference we organised back in 1993.

Title: ‘Innovative Technologies and Cross Cultural Dialogue for Quality Education’

This is a gathering open to all, including those who have never worked in iEARN projects before. It typically brings together teachers, students, administrators, Ministry officials, and NGO partners from over 70 countries. It builds upon previous conferences in Argentina (1994), Australia (1995), Hungary(1996) , Spain (1997), USA (1998), Puerto Rico (1999), China (2000), South Africa (2001), Russia (2002), Japan(2003), Slovakia (2004), Senegal (2005), the Netherlands (2006), and Egypt (2007).

Conference Goals include:
- To facilitate communication and develop partnerships between educators and youth locally, regionally and globally.
