Magic on the Underground
"But he who kisses the joy as it flies... Lives in Eternity's sunrise." In the late 80s Poems on the Underground appeared in London tube trains to entertain tired commuters. The idea has now spread as far as Portugal. Visit Poems on the Metro at teaching English Britlit and bring magic into your classes…
A book is forever
World Book Day was established by UNESCO to encourage everyone to discover the joy of reading. Official date is 26 April and 3 March for the UK. Children receive book tokens and enjoy playful 'book' activities... which require little or no adaption to EFL classes. Have a look at the website resources and happy World Book Day!
Are colours important to them?
'What about all those cue cards?' Suitable ELT materials for the blind and visually impaired learners are needed. If you are in a position to help, here is a start: an initial read, an interview with a blind teacher, a few activities and a teacher training project (look for texts 8 and 9) and an international organisation.
Let’s have a cuppa!
Tea and ELT? Yes! A tasty mix of language, culture and fun all in one. Despite all the fancy café chains, tea is still Britain’s most cherished drink. A blissful moment leaving and arriving home, during and after shopping, on your own or with a friend. Check all things Tea and treat your students to a 'cuppa' class!
