Citizenship Education Programme

Our purpose is to work with educators and young people in Egypt and the UK to promote engaged, informed, critical and democratic citizens, in the context of governments’ plans for active citizenship.

We work so that young people and educators in Egypt and the UK have an improved understanding of citizenship values in their respective countries. Teachers and Community workers have improved teaching techniques and methods for teaching citizenship education.

Young people are aware of their rights and responsibilities as global citizens.  They have the opportunity to practice their rights and responsibilities in schools, youth centres and their communities.

We have partners from the UK who contribute to our programme and provide expertise in the area like the Centre for Global Education, the Citizenship Foundation, in addition to Egyptian NGOs and consultants.

A locally designed teacher guide with materials for teaching Citizenship Education has been developed to ensure that they reflect local needs and diversity.  It should provide educators with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to promote active and responsible citizenship. You can download both the theoretical section and the activities section.
