UK Programme for regional media practitioners

13 Media Professionals from Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan visited the UK for a two week training and exchange programme in partnership with the BBC World Service Trust.

Thirteen young and promising journalists have reinforced their journalistic skills and engaged in lively discussions around the key concepts of editorial ethics, met with various renowned Arab journalists living in the UK, visited the various BBC departments, and attended a 7 day Train the Trainer workshop at the BBC WST head quarters in London.

Five sessions with seasoned Arab editors and journalists, with long careers in the major London-based Arab daily newspapers of international audience, provided the substance matter for debate around issues of editorial values, cultural diversity, research and sourcing

The programme aimed to provide participants with the opportunity to acquire new skills and share their experiences, has been designed with a mixture of theory and practice.
