Bridging the gap

We are all citizens of the world and what happens in one country has an effect in another. It is essential that media and civil society work in partnership to advocate for society and raise awareness to support an improved social, economic and political situation for citizens. These improvements are not just limited to citizens in Egypt but regionally and internationally too.

The Media and Civil Society project aims to develop relationships and the capacity of media professionals, with a view to ultimately enhancing the quality and outreach of social reporting.

Through a series of events, the British Council with the Arab Network for NGOs hope form a platform for positive discussion and take collaboration between media and civil society forward in support of social issues.

This programme should give media participants a chance to develop their understanding of the relationship between media and civil society. We plan to achieve this by identifying and working with media professionals and civil society from Egypt and the UK to share experiences and expectations from each other, as well as providing some practical techniques and tools to address some of the challenges and opportunities.
