All parts of the new foundation training curriculum will be assessed in both Part 1 and Part 2 of the MJDF. Parts 1 and 2 replace Parts A, B and C of the MFDS (RCS Eng). In addition, a Portfolio of Evidence will be required to be awarded the MJDF.
Part 1 examination
- This examination will be held at least twice a year.
- It will consist of one paper, based on the foundation training curriculum, assessing knowledge and applied knowledge. This will include different formats of multiple choice questions and multiple short answer questions.
- Part 1 will stand alone, candidates being awarded either a pass or fail.
- Candidates must pass Part 1 before proceeding to Part 2.
Part 2 examination
- Candidates must have written confirmation of a pass in Part 1 before they may apply to sit Part 2. This should be Part 1 MJDF, the relevant passes in either MFGDP (UK) or MFDS, or other examinations accepted by, and detailed on the MJDF web pages of, the two faculties.
- This examination will be held at least twice a year.
- It will consist of an assessment using objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) and structured clinical reasoning (SCR) formats.
- The examination will assess clinical skills and competencies and structured clinical reasoning.
- This part of the exination may be taken at any point after completion of 12 months in clinical dentistry.
- Candidates will be awarded a pass or fail.
Requirements for registration:
You need to fill in an application form and bring it to the British Council in Agouza OR Alexandria before the registration deadline. Any candidate who applies must have a dental degree that is recognised by the GDC.
They must also be registered to practise as a dentist in the country they graduated in.
This examination will now be subject to numbers applying. Any less than 10 candidates and those who have applied and paid their fees will have their place moved to the London Venue.
Part 1:
- Completed application form, primary dental qualification together with the date of acquisition, and registration document
- The qualification should be acceptable to the General Dental Council (GDC) of the UK for the purposes of registration.
- PLUS 2 recent passport photographs
Part 2:
- Completed application form, primary dental qualification together with the date of acquisition, and registration document and approval of one year internship
- The candidate must have completed 12 months in clinical dentistry before the closing date for the examination. To be awarded the MJDF Diploma, candidates must have completed 24 months in clinical dentistry,
- The qualification should be acceptable to the General Dental Council (GDC) of the UK for the purposes of registration
- PLUS 2 recent passport photographs
Re-sit candidates: completed application plus a copy of their result letter

Applications for admission to any section of the assessment must be fully completed and accompanied by any supporting information specified in the application form
