Young Learner Centre / Book club

It is a bright and comfortable area for students to help develop further in between classes. It provides a range of materials to encourage reading in English, and to help make it an enjoyable experience. We offer:

Fiction and Nonfiction A variety of UK books across a broad range of topics
Audiobooks to improve listening and pronunciation skills.
DVDs and Videos: for family entertainment.

Added Value Activities

Arts & Craft Students make things using materials such as paints, crayons and crèche paper.
Video show Students watch a video / DVD and do some activities related to it.
Storytelling The teacher tells a story and the students listen and do some activities related to it.
Reading Challenge The Reading Challenge is designed for all levels and reading abilities. They can read any books they like; fact books, stories, joke books, picture books – it’s up to them. Audio books count too! The aim of the challenge is to get children to read a number of books from their library during the term. Successful challengers will receive prizes on books they have read, in addition to a certificate and a medal.

Young Learners Art Competition

The Art Competition 2010 is open to British Council Young Learner Students.

The three winners (one from each age group) will then have the chance to enter their picture into the Global Young Learners Art Competition. This will be held in London, involving students from all over the world.
