General English

What is General English?
General English focuses on developing the language and skills necessary for effective everyday communication across a wide range of different contexts and situations.

How will a General English course help me?
We offer courses across these language bands:

  • Pre-Elementary
  • Elementary
  • Pre-Intermediate
  • Intermediate
  • Upper intermediate
  • Pre-Advanced
  • Advanced

There are 4 levels within each band. If you study with us continuously over the course of a year, you can expect to complete one and a half language bands. Each course has clear learning aims your teacher will help you work towards, giving you lots of opportunity to polish your existing skills and learn and develop new ones.

Our professional teachers make your learning interesting and enjoyable by using a variety of activities with an emphasis on your participation.
We use a wide variety of up-to-date teaching resources including modern course books, authentic materials and computer-based activities.

Your teacher will talk to you about your progress and advise you on improving your English language skills. You can view the levels chart.

Location British Council Cairo - Agouza and Heliopolis and Nasr City (new branch)
Duration Courses run over approximately eight weeks and consist of 16 lessons which are each two and a half hours in length

How do I register?
To register for a course, all new students must take a placement test which consists of both a written and a spoken section.

Placement tests cost LE90 (non-refundable) and must be booked in advance.
