	National Skills Standard Project

The National Skills standard project objectives was to equip the Egyptian workforce with the skills required to meet the current and future needs of the local and international labour markets and Establish a sustainable system designed for the development and delivery of skill standards, implemented and evaluated in the Egyptian Economic sectors.

The project was led by an international consortium headed by the British Council and includes four partners from Scotland, France, Germany and Denmark.

			236 qualifications for 105 various trades up to level 3 and associated end tests
			1217 Student Centred Learning Packs for each skill standard
			846 trainees participated on a Pilot Programme between 2004 and 2005
			522 successful candidates at levels 1 & 2 benchmarked to international standards verified by UK lead bodies
			29 instructors from vocational centres and NGOs trained to implement the Egyptian Vocational Competency based Qualification (EVCQ) system
			160 trainers of trainers trained to use and monitor the new system and further upgrade instructors on-site
			265 assessors and verifiers trained to level 3 benchmarked to UK qualification
			171 managers from training centres trained to administer the EVCQ system
			67 senior trainers of trainers trained to UK level 3 qualification by the Scottish Qualifications Authority
			Training Needs Assessment evaluatory tool designed and developed for all trades
			60 specialist training advisors trained to analyse training needs on-site to reinforce the demand driven system.
