British Council Egypt and Shell initative 'Intilaaqah' Orange lozenge left

Following December's competition as part of the Intilaaqah programme, we held a high-porfile award ceremony which was attended by the new British Ambassador to Egypt, senior officials and the media.

The event started by a speech by Mr. Zinoul Rahim, CEO Shell Egypt who talked about Intilaaqah and the social responsibility programme of Shell - Egypt towards defeating unemployment and helping in implementing good programmes that support youth to be self employed. He praised the role of the British Council in engaging Intilaaqah programme with the wide British Council network of non-governamental oraganizations in the same domain.

Following his speech the British Council Director Paul Smith gave a speech on the continuous commitment of the British Council in helping Egyptian youth and encouraging them to be future leaders in the field of small and medium enterprises. Director Smith also reflected on the effectiveness of such partnerships between British organizations and our future plans to introduce more effective partnership through our different offices.

The prizes were handed out to the winners by Mr. Zinoul Rahim and our Deputy Director Sally Goggin in an Oscar-like ceremony.
