Our successful delivery of development contracts depends on the expertise and co-operation of many partners. We contract technical assistance and management services from many types of organisation in the public and private sectors and civil society. We also work as a member of various consortia and as a sub-contractor to other organisations.
We manage relationships with our contract partners in accordance with British Council values and international best practice.
- Organisations and individuals in the countries where we deliver development services. Our local partnerships are essential to the successful delivery and sustainability of projects and programmes. They are strengthened by our long-term presence in many countries
- Public sector, private sector and NGO partners from the UK and around the world who deliver development services with us. These include central and local government organisations, commercial firms and development and specialist NGOs. We also work with development consultancy organisations from the UK and other countries. We have close relationships with major European technical assistance organisations
- Education institutions. Universities and colleges provide technical expertise as well as training for individuals and groups We have close links with education institutions at all levels, in the UK and around the world
- Professional bodies. The clients and beneficiaries of our work gain access to the expertise of a wide variety of professional organisations in our areas of expertise.
As well as delivering contracted services, we work with our partners on other activities to support development, for example, the management of Higher Education Links and governance activities.
