How is DelPHE funded and managed?

The programme is based on a partnership between the British Council, the UK government's  Department for International Development (DFID), and the participating universities and higher education institutions with support from the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU).

Funding:

  • DFID provides core grant funding and UK staff costs for small management teams in the British Council and the ACU.
  • The British Council provides overseas staff costs and use of facilities while the participating institutions provide staff time and use of facilities.

Management and Delivery:

  • The DelPHE programme is unique in funding projects that are led by the Southern partner. The British Council is responsible for the management and delivery of DelPHE in the lead country and in the UK. Our work with the projects includes monitoring and evaluation, disbursement of grant funds and daily liaison with teams.
  • The Association of Commonwealth Universities is responsible for an element of programme delivery in supporting South-South (this means developing countries in the southern hemisphere) partnerships and liaising with the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission and other bodies
