The aim of the DelPHE programme is to support partnerships between higher education institutions across the world to contribute to the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. These Goals aim to:
- Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
- Achieve universal primary education
- Promote gender equality and empower women
- Reduce child mortality
- Improve maternal health
- Combat HIV/AIDS
- Ensure environmental sustainability
- Develop a global partnership for Development
Since the programme was launched in 2006, some 200 projects have been funded in the following countries:
Africa: Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe
Asia: Afghanistan, Bangladesh. Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, Vietnam and Yemen.
