Courses for Teachers in Switzerland

British Council Switzerland works with Swiss educational bodies to deliver courses for teachers of English. Our partners are:

WBZ - Weiterbildungszentrale

On behalf of the Swiss Conference of Cantonal Ministers of Education, the WBZ designs an education programme in Switzerland with over 100 courses, conferences, forums, congresses and seminars every year. The WBZ administers officially endorsed seminars for head teachers, teachers and education managers.
The WBZ is the centre of competence for quality management and school development at secondary school level II in Switzerland.
The WBZ coordinates training opportunities at secondary school level II and links the course providers to potential participants.
The services of the WBZ are integrated in the framework for further education as defined by the Council of Europe. The WBZ also hosts international events in Switzerland.

SWCH - Schule und Weiterbildung Schweiz

SWCH provides in-service training opportunities in the field of education and works towards raising the awareness for self-responsible further education in Switzerland. These aims are achieved by:

  • organising in-service training courses and workshops
  • providing teaching materials and media for primary school
  • publishing pedagogical magazines (SCHULEkonkret, ECOLEromande)
  • training and supporting courseleaders

EHB - Eidgenössisches Hochschulinstitut für Berufsbildung

The EHB is concerned with training and in-service training for teachers at Swiss vocational institutions. It has offices in Zollikofen (EHB), Lausanne (IFFP) and Lugano (IUFFP). Their work includes

  • the organising of training and in-service training for teachers at vocational schools, for trainers at workshops, studios and labs as well as for examiners
  • research in the field of vocational pedagogics and development as well as the maintenance of a library
  • the offering of services in vocational pedagogics for the different vocational sectors, syndicates and
  • organisations, education ministries as well as for individuals working in professional education
