Climate Change Around us Competition

Are you studying at secondary school? Are you interested in the environment? Take part in this British Council competition and win a trip to the United Kingdom in summer 2007.

The British Council and the British Embassy, in collaboration with the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute, are holding a competition for secondary school students called Climate Change Around Us. The competition has the patronage of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of Environment. The competition aims to promote an active approach to recognising and resolving the problems associated with global climate change. The first prize is a visit to the United Kingdom. The competition is part of a world-wide project by the British Council, ZeroCarbonCity and is related to the European Commission’s You Control Climate Change campaign.

The Climate Change Around Us competition will have two rounds. In the first round, students will submit a general overview of the issue of climate change, its principles and origin, and a summary of its anticipated impacts on life on Earth, together with a project focusing on one of the six topics listed in the competition guidelines. In the second round ten teams will be chosen to take part in the final, where they will defend their work, in English, before a panel of experts.

We ask all those taking part to carefully read the competition guidelines and rules. By entering the competition, you agree to comply with the rules.
