British science explores the cutting edges of biology, medicine, astronomy, chemistry, engineering and physics for the benefit of all.

We bring these together under two themes: excellence in international science (the UK's collaborative work with scientists from countries around the world) and increasing the understanding of science in society (engaging the public in discussion and understanding of science).

Novartis foundation bursary scheme

These bursaries enable young scientists to attend Novartis Foundation symposia (in London unless otherwise stated) and, immediately following the meeting, spend between 4 and 12 weeks in the department of one of the symposium participants.

Researcher exchange programme

The Researcher Exchange Programme (RXP) is a £500,000 initiative of the British Council that provides individual researchers with awards covering travel and subsistence costs, needed to develop new scientific collaborations and contacts through exchange visits of between one week and three months' duration.
