What is an Advanced Extension Award?

Advanced Extension Awards (AEAs) were introduced for 18 year olds in England, Wales and Northern Ireland in summer 2002. Each AEA is offered by one awarding body on behalf of all others. We deliver the qualifications on behalf of AQA (Assessment and Qualifications Alliance) and CCEA (Curriculum Examinations and Assessment).

What subjects are covered by Advanced Extension Awards?

AQA offers AEAs in Biology, Chemistry and Economics and CCEA offers AEAs in German, Irish and Physics.
